Chicago – It’s on

Training has officially started. And it was a bit disappointing to look at the training plan Smart Coach gave me.

It’s not SC’s fault.

It’s just that because the New York Road Runner’s races match the training for the NYC marathon, and Chicago is 3 weeks before NYC, I can’t do most of the NYRR races! It kinda sucks. As it is, I actually get to do just these:

Front Runners New York Lesbian and Gay Pride Run – Saturday, June 25 / Distance: 5M / Time: 9:00 a.m. / Central Park

Queens Half-Marathon – Saturday, July 30 / Distance: 13.1 / Time: 7:00 a.m. / Flushing Meadows Corona Park

Bronx Half-Marathon – Sunday, August 28 / Distance: 13.1 / Time: TBD / The Bronx

Fifth Avenue Mile – September 24, 2011 / Manhattan / Various Starts

We sat and adjusted the training plan a lot, so we could fit in a few of the Halfs, but I am going to miss my favorite: the Staten Island Half (it’s the same day as Chicago). I am gonna miss the 4 miler that I love, I am gonna miss my other favorite half, Grete’s Gallop… But given that I have already tried the “let’s overdo it and race every weekend” thing and it doesn’t really work, I am going the other way this time. It’s on. Chicago, you and your (usually nasty but not this year!!!!) weather better be worth this!!!

I still need to get a flight and a hotel for Chicago. And I still need to sign up for Philly.

For now, gotta focus on the five miler tomorrow in the park! Happy Weekend everyone!

Chicago – It’s on
