Have you paid thousands of dollars and you look like crap at the finish line? Well, the race is hard, the finish line doesn’t have to be. Actually, sometimes it is the best part of the race, and with a little bit of prep and practice, it can show.
It’s so easy, I promise. Let’s go.
Here are some tips for a smashing shot:
- When you are about 200 meters from the finish, run a mental check of what you could possibly look like: βsunglasses on or off?, βis my shirt tucked?β, βis my hair wild?β, βdo I look destroyedβ, βis this hat gonna help or not?β, I usually wipe any snot and/or salt streaks, and press down the frizzy hair.
- Keep an aye out for the photographers, try to make eye contact and engage if possible, while keeping the pose βnaturalβ.
- Find your spot, like, you could be stuck behind someone who has a huge flag, a group of people, someone tall, so look around and make sure you avoid a traffic jam, then find a good area for your spotlight or slow down if needed!!!!
- Hit your pose when ready, yes, you have to wait a bit.
- Run through the finish, donβt stop before itβs too early.
- If you are dying and just need to repeat a mantra, go for something like: βsmile and postureβ
What NOT to do at the finish line:
- Pause your tracking app on your phone
- Selfies
- Stop your gps watch
- Block other people with your pose or flag
- Stop right at or before the finish to walk through the line
I just want to point out my new gorgeous adidas pink cropped kit. Check the adidas site for their gorgeous women’s hoodies and women’s tracksuits, they are the cutest and so comfy. I am loving all this new adidas gear, obviously including all the women’s running shoes, that I wear them all the time, not just for running, ooooops!Β
