Next Stop: Fifth Avenue Mile

With one week til Berlin, I am doing another race. But it’s just ONE mile… You’ve heard of it: THE Fifth Avenue Mile.
I can’t even tell you how cool it is. I’ve done it like 3 times already, and never well, but mostly for the fun. After all, how often do you get the best part of 5th ave all for yourself???
No glory to be had, just a very dry cough that lasts two days..

I have a very old PR of 6:31 from 2010 or 2009, not even sure… And I haven’t done any track workouts in.. years??? So, I have no idea what will be happening, or how to pace it, so I went to the Math Gods to see what they thought…

I went to investigate in Mc Millan and Runners World calculators, using recent race times, and while I was at it, I got their estimated marathon finishes, which could help out next week for Berlin…

Recent Races
4 Miler: 28:24, 7:06 pace
5K: 21:09, 6:49 pace

Mc Millan says:
Based on the 4 miler (28:24): Mile 6:16 – marathon: 3:33
Based on the 5K (21:09): Mile 6:04 – Marathon: 3:26

RunnersWorld says:
Based on the 4 miler (28:24): Mile 6:32 – marathon: 3:28

Based on the 5K (21:09): Mile 6:21 – Marathon: 3:22

I think I need to PR in the mile. So, I am shooting for something under 6:30.
In the marathon, I have no idea. These races are too short to be a worthy predictor. According to them it’s between 3:22 and 3:33. I’d take any of those. Happily.
